On June 19, 2026 , the workshop “Infrared Microscopy with Quantum Cascade Lasers for Biomedical Applications” was held at the Interuniversity Department of Physics of the University and Polytechnic of Bari, providing an important opportunity for scientific discussion on the latest advancements in biomedical imaging and precision medicine.
The event brought together researchers, faculty members, and industry professionals, with presentations focusing on the applications of infrared microscopy based on quantum cascade lasers (QCLs).
A particularly significant moment during the workshop was the presentation of a technology that represents a major step forward for biomedical research in Italy.
The tour of the laboratories and the live demonstration of the new microscope highlighted the value of a research infrastructure capable of rapidly analyzing the chemical and molecular composition of biological tissues, providing increasingly advanced tools to better understand pathological processes and support the development of precision medicine.
